As a student majoring in Music Production and Engineering, you'll learn to complete recording projects typical of those found in professional production environments - working with artists, selecting musicians, booking the studio time, and working with and as a recording engineer or producer.
You're not just surrounded by professional-level consoles and recording equipment - you're working at the board with the composer or artist, miking up the band, layering tracks, or doing the final mix. You'll not only develop sophisticated technical skills, you'll also sharpen the necessary aesthetic, communication, and organization skills that are vital to today's successful producers and engineers.

MP&E Application
To insure the proper amount of lab time and hands-on experience necessary for the curriculum of the Music Production & Engineering major, enrollment is limited. Consequently, an additional application process takes place each semester.
Please take note that you have to be accepted and enrolled in Berklee in order to apply for the major. Students are eligible for application in their second semester, as a total of 24 credits must be acquired to become an MP&E major. The current rate of acceptance to MP&E is approximately 35%. If a student is not initially accepted, he or she is welcome to re-apply in the next application period. For complete details about the MP&E application process, visit the
application page and read the Frequently Asked Questions section.
