MP&E Web Programmer

(up to 20 hours/week)

The Music Production and Engineering Department seeks a reliable and self-motivated student with a thorough knowledge of web programming, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills. Under the direction of the Program Associate and Chairman of MP&E, is responsible for web server maintenance and script writing to maintain the department's website: mpe.berklee.edu.

Candidates will collaborate with the MP&E Web Designer, MP&E Media Archive Assistant, and department faculty and staff as needed. This position is responsible for the management of projects and server-side issues. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate examples of previous web site construction and be able to commit to at least two semesters of employment. Previous supervisory experience is preferred, although not required. Training, access to computers and all appropriate authoring, graphics, and audio software will be provided.

This is a work-study position, you must be enrolled in the Student Employment program and be eligible for work. Please make sure you are enrolled with the Office of Scholarships and Student Employment (OSSE) before applying to this job!

Duties:

Web Server Maintenance and Administration
Develop Server-Side Scripting Solutions with PHP5/mySQL environment
Address technical issues of Server Request Processes
Address the website security issues with Linux/Apache

Technical Skills Required:

Object-Oriented Programming with PHP5/mySQL
Linux/Unix Basics
Apache Webserver Administration
Familiarity with XHTML, Javascript/AJAX, XML/SOAP, Graphics Design, FTP
