You will need either LMSC-230 Concepts of Mathematics or a Passing Score on the Mathematics Proficiency Test in order to take LMSC-208, LMSC-209 or MB-225 which are required courses of MBUS, MP&E and MSYN. You should take the math test before you apply to the major.

No need to sign-up. Just walk in. 16 Multiple choice questions. Calculators NOT allowed. Results will be emailed to student’s berklee.net email address, and will also be posted on the internet: http://classes.berklee.edu/ms click on “Test Results.” If you passed, please check with the Music Synthesis office or the Registrar to see if it has been entered into your student record. If you fail, you can attempt the next round to be held in April. You do not get Credits for passing this test.

- Arithmetic: Integers, Fractions, Decimals, Order of Operations, Rounding, Geometry.
- Algebra: Factoring, Manipulating, Linear Equations, Quadratics, Fractions, Exponents.
- Functions: Notation, Equations.
