Students interested in Music Business, Music Production and Engineering,
Contemporary Writing and Production, and Electronic Production and Design majors:
Please note that you will need either LMSC-130 Concepts of Mathematics or
a score of 75% or higher on the Mathematics Placement Exam in order to take
LMSC-208, LMSC-209, LMSC-251, or MB-225 required of these majors.

16 Multiple choice questions. Calculators NOT allowed.
You will immediately receive your score when you complete the test.
You will also receive an official email stating that your score has been recorded.
Once you have received the email you may then register for your class.
If you scored 75% or better , you will then be able to register for the class of your choice.

Math Exam F.A.Q. :
1) Why should I take the Mathematics Placement Exam? :
LMSC-251 and MB-225 are required courses for the Music Business major, and
LMSC-208 or LMSC-209 are required courses of the Music Production and
Engineering, Contemporary Writing and Production, and Electronic Production and
Design majors. The prerequisites to those classes are either taking LMSC-130
Concepts of Mathematics or a 75% score or higher on the Mathematics Placement Test.

2) Can I get course credit for taking the test? :
The Mathematics Placement Exam only serves to satisfy the prerequisite requirement.
Course credits are not given for passing the test.

3) How many times can I take the test?
Student may only take the math test twice in one semester. A student who did not score at least 75% the first time may only take the test one additional time during the same semester.

4) What can I expect to see on the exam? :
The test is comprised of 16 multiple choice questions. 12 correct answers will get you
the magic score of 75%, which will allow you to sign up for the major classes. Click the

5) How will I know my score? :
Results will be given to you right after is completed. The test
scores are usually input into the computer system within a few days of the test, which
would allow students to sign up for classes whether online or in person at the Registrar.
If exceptional circumstances arise to prevent prompt inputting, please contact the
Liberal Arts Department for an electronic waiver

6) Uh oh, I didn't get a 75%, what can I do? :
If you do not get at least a 75%, you can attempt the test again or sign up for LMSC-130 Concepts of Mathematics. If you take LMSC-130 Concepts of Mathematics, you DO NOT need to worry about taking the exam.

7) I've already taken math before, do I have to take the test? :
If you have already completed an Advanced Placement math course or a transferrable
college-level math course (Algebra, Calculus...etc), you may be waived from the math
test requirement. Please submit details to the Liberal Arts Department for assessment.
High school courses in mathematics DO NOT count to waive the Mathematics
Placement Exam.

8) I have a question about it that nobody has asked before. I swear! Where can I
talk with someone about the exam? :
