Mastering Electronic Music in the Digital and Analog Domains
Presented by Stephen Betke
Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 7:00 in Room 112, 22 The Fenway

Betke, legendary figure behind dub-techno act POLE and renowned engineer and owner of Scape Studios Berlin, brings his years of experience in mastering and engineering to Boston to talk about his philosophy of mastering.
The panel will be mostly dedicated to theory, plus a Q&A afterwards. Betke is perhaps one of the most sought after mastering engineers in the electronic music community in Berlin. He brings years of experience to the table discussing some of the unique challenges posed in mastering electronic and dance genres for release on digital formats, as well as for vinyl.

Stefan Betke started his mastering carrer in 1996 at Dubplates and Mastering before he started his own studio for engineering in 2000 where he works for various producers and labels such as Mute, Third Ear, Minus, Wagon Repair, Bpitch Control or K7 just to name a few.

In 2009 Betke bought a Neumann VMS 70 cutting lathe to offer vinyl mastering again. His Master Class presented in Boston will be a mix of Q&A and a theoretical excursions into the science of mastering for analogue and digital formats.

Betke will be performing as POLE the following evening, Wednesday, May 2, 8:00 PM at the Goethe Institut in Boston. http://www.goethe.de/ins/us/bos/kue/mus/en8814994v.htm
