New England Institute of Art is hosting an Audio Summit, and Berklee students have been invited.

Eddie Bayers is Nashville’s first-call drummer and certainly one of the busiest musicians in the world. A list of his credits would be too large to fit on this page, but a partial list of stars he has worked with include Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Steve Winwood, Peter Frampton, Bob Seeger, Triisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, and Kenny Chesney. He has received the Drummer of the Year Award for 11 straight years, something that no other artist or musician has done. He was elected to the NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) Board of Governors in 1992 through 1994 and 1997-2001 Eddie has also been working as a producer. Artists Eddie has produced include Rosanne Cash, Glen Cambell, Lane Brody as well as and the soundtrack of the movie, A Thing Called Love. Part 3: Techniques of Video Game Music Implementation Video games garner bigger budgets and higher quality scores than ever before. Come hear the Video Game Music Club introduce techniques and concepts for implementing music into the game engine. This forum covers topics such as: - Introduction to implementation: what is it? What does it do? Why do we need implementation? What is middleware software? - Presentation of various in game situations which require adaptive audio (footage from actual games) - Brief overview of audio "middleware" solutions (wwise, fmod, etc.) - focus on Audiokinetic's Wwise engine: - bringing audio into the program - linking events to audio and music - trying out the results

Open to MT Division Students only: You are all invited to a very special visiting artist event with legendary super-producer, Don Was. Don will be playing demos from the 5 Rolling Stones albums he has produced, as well as a wide range of other artists from his discography. Discussion will focus on the development of artist demos into the finished albums; diplomacy in working with artists the stature of the Stones; and his reflections on the current trends in modern record production.

Architectural Acoustics and Modern Studio Design with John Storyk: Please join famed studio designer John Storyk in his annual Fall lecture on Architectural Acoustics and Modern Studio Design. John will draw from his 30+ years of design experience, having produced some of the most legendary studios in the world beginning with Jimmy Hendrix's Electric Lady Land in New York City. John will discuss in detail many of the great rooms around the world that he has designed, and apply those concepts to practical solutions for project studios in smaller spaces. John will return in the Spring 2009 semester to teach MTEC 360: Architecture and Acoustics of Critical Listening Environments. Please watch for this popular elective in the Spring. The Student Chapter of the Audio Engineering Society from the New England Institute of Art together with the Boston Professional Chapter of AES is presenting a very special event at the Rabb Lecture Hall in the Main Copley Branch of the Boston Public Library. On Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at 6pm authors Brian Kehew and Kevin Ryan will be presenting their very special book: Recording the Beatles. Never before has there been such an absolutely thorough and definitive look at how the Beatles Albums were recorded. Years of research and extensive interviews with the group’s former engineers and technicians shed new light on those classic sessions. With a detailed look at every piece of studio gear used, full explanations of effects and recording processes, and an inside look at how specific songs were recorded.
