Best Original Beat Wins an iPad

The Planet MicroJam Institute at Berklee aims to innovate new musical ideas through the experimentation and mixing of microtonal and non- Western concepts with new beats and rhythms. Contest Details

Guidelines for Groove:
Groove should be an unusual or unique beat.
Groove can be played, recorded, or programmed on any instrument.
Groove can be in any style and time signature.
If it's a free or ambient groove or vibe, there must be a discernable repetitive pattern.

Guidelines for Submission:
Submissions are due April 1, 2011.
To submit, schedule an appointment with David Fiuczynski at dfiuczynski@berklee.edu.
To protect writers, no electronic submissions.

Additional Information:
Groove by author is protected; author will receive written confirmation.
Author’s groove is non-exclusive; writers can incorporate their original beats into any other composition.
In addition to an iPad, winner's beats will be incorporated into microtonal compositions performed during a Planet MicroJam Institute concert at the end of April, date TBD.
