Berklee College Of Music is devoted to practical career preparation for the challenges facing today's music professional. Our nearly 3000 music students come from all over the world. Their musical interests span all of today's many styles of contemporary music. Berklee is where they learn how to translate their musical ideas into musical reality. In the tracks on this recording, you will hear how vibrant and fascinating their msic can be. Through intensive study, practice, and real-world professional music training, the students represented here have combined their many voices with remarkable results. We congratulate them on the success of their efforts. As they move on to join the many almni who have succeeded before them, we hope their experiences with us will lead them to success, as well.

Production projects 1992 contains course required recordings by Music Synthesis (now called EPD) and Music Production and Engineering students. All projects are recorded entirely in the Berklee professional quality recording studios and sound labs. This year's projects were selected to show the diversity of musical style at Berklee. All songs are written, arranged, performed, recorded and produced by Berklee students, and the final result is released on compact disc and cassette. Final selections are determinded by a college-wide committee. This year's selections include productions of jazz, pop, country, religious, folk, rock, and new age. A segment of projects utilizes computers and synthesizers and are recorded direct to disk. "Violent Skies" is a microtonal composition using a 19 tone per octave equal temperament scale. The "Berklee Album" offers students an exciting opportunity to demonstrate their musical skills in a professional quality recording project.
